Monty and Morgion 136: Wonka Fight |
||
22Jul05 (Monthenor): Naw, I'm just kidding, the new Wonka's way better. Watching them back-to-back like that highlighted just how stereotypically 70s the old one was. The horrible montage of news reports at the beginning, striving for humor when we should have been learning useful things about the characters...and perhaps the most important change of all, the new movie is not a musical. Hoo boy, those were some bad songs in the original. The movies are apparently named backwards, as well. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) is focussed on Charlie Bucket and his grandpa exploring this wonderful candy world, while Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) is focussed on Willy Wonka himself. Johnny Depp carries the movie as the candy-coated predator of London. Enough about that, who wants to make some history? You should be warned that the interface is a little weird...whenever I tried to type "FOLC", it kept getting corrected into "FOLCC" somehow. Whatever. It turned out okay. |
